Capital Market Stocks Rally 9%; Angel One, CDSL in Fray

Capital market shares rallied today as Nifty crossed the psychological mark of 25,000. The rally comes despite volatility during the session, thereby boosting investor sentiments. Nifty Capital Markets index surged over 2.55% to settle at 4,055.

The equity market witnessed a significant rally during yesterday's afternoon session as Nifty and Sensex climbed significant highs. The 50-share barometer crossed the 25,000-mark for the first time since October 17, 2024.

However, benchmark indices reported a choppy trade as the session ended with marginal losses today. Sensex closed at 82,330, down 200 points, while Nifty shed 0.17% at 25,019.80.

Shares of Angel One emerged as the top gainer in the pack of capital market stocks, soaring 8.5% to settle at a six-month high of ₹2,788 apiece.

Central Depository Services (CDSL) shares were up by 6% to settle at ₹1,412.90 apiece. Meanwhile, shares of CAMS, Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC and Motilal Oswal Financial Services surged 4%.

Ajit Mishra from Religare Broking said, “Sustained FII inflows and stable global markets are further contributing to the positive sentiment. We continue to maintain our bullish outlook and recommend focusing on selective stock-picking.”

While cautioning investors about the current trading levels, Apurva Sheth, Head of Market Perspectives & Research at SAMCO Securities, said, “This isn't a bull market - it's a bull illusion. If you're not in the handful of heavyweight stocks pulling the index up, you're likely still in pain. So the next time someone says, 'Nifty's at 25k!', just ask 'Yes, but is your portfolio’?”
